Koh Thai Southsea- Exterior Building View

What is Koh Thai?

Koh means an "island" in Thai. Set in a historic building which once used to be a bank, Koh Thai is a modern Thai restaurant and a cocktail bar. The tables are set over two floors, with the top floor offering a more pleasant dining experience. The interior ambience is just magnificent with decorations to the highest quality. You feel like you have been transported to the street restaurants of Bangkok itself.

Location

Located in Southsea, it is quite central to the city. However, if you are coming from far then there is plenty of parking on the street/ road next to it. Also, the parking is free after 6pm so you shouldn't have to pay a penny for it!

Food and Drinks

We started off with couple of cocktails which were absolutely fantastic. You can buy two of the same cocktails for a discounted price of around 12 GBP or just one for 7.50 GBP. Naturally, we went for two at a time. First we got Koh Figure and then we got Dragon's Ruin. Koh Figure is made of Fig Liqueur and apple juice. Dragon's Ruin has a lot more going on with passionfruit, raspberries, citrus fruits, apple juice and vodka.

For starters, we got the steamed prawn Dim Sum and Kafir Lime Chicken which was basically fired chicken pieces with a zesty dipping sauce.

Service

The service was spot on. The staff were friendly, gave us time to choose and were happy to explain things. The food and drinks were brought out in a timely manner without any delays.

Overall Comments

Koh Thai  definitely satisfied my craving for Thai food post lock down. This was our first proper meal out in a long time due to multiple lockdowns. The ambience was great, service was on point and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend that you visit this establishment for an enjoyable evening.
